Khaled Kurbeh


Khaled Kurbeh (Syrian *1987) is a composer and recording artist living in Berlin. He graduated with a MA in Spatial Strategies from Weißensee Academy of Arts Berlin and attended the Electroacoustic Composition class of Prof. Kirsten Reese at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). Khaled has performed in various festivals including XJAZZ, Berlin (2018), BBC Arabic Film Festival, London (2017), Potsdamer Tanztage, Potsdam (2016, 2017, 2018).

Together with oud player Raman Khalaf, they released their debut EP, Aphorisms, on Henrik Schwarz’s label Between Buttons in 2017. Other collaborations include working with The Oriel Quartett and Tom Berkmann at Ableton Loop Festival (2017), and an audio visual performance with artist Rodrik Biersteker and Raman Khalaf at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (2016). In 2014 he co-composed the soundtrack for Öz Kaveller’s performance at the Drei Tage Istanbul at Studio Я, Maxim Gorki Theater. Khaled was an artist in residence at the George Sand—Frédéric Chopin Residenzprogram, Genshagen (2017). He has been a lecturer at Weißensee Academy of Arts Berlin since 2019.
